Introduction

1. The United Kingdom referendum, held on the 23 June 2016, resulted in a majority vote to leave the European unio. On 26 June 2018, theEuropean unio (Withdrawal) Act 2018 (EUWA) was passed.

2. The EUWA provides that, on exit from the EU, certain directly applicableEU legislation will be converted into UK law. In this Consultation, we referto the converted law as “retained EU law”。
